My Alligators:
Sebastion, Luna, and Camaro
Sebastion is a 5 foot male American alligator, Luna was a 3 foot female American gator, and of course, Camaro is still my baby now at 3 feet.
I know a lot of people think it is cool to have alligators. It really isnt unless you know how to take care of them. How cool do you think it will be when your gator is 5 foot living in your bath tub, and you have no where else to go with it.... Dump it in the river right? Wrong answer; alligators will die up north due to the extreme cold weather. They WILL die! They can only withstand a low of 40 degrees. Ok, so that won't work. Maybe you'll try pawning it off on a friend, or selling it to someone who doesn't have the knowledge of handling and keeping alligators.
In the pictures below, you will notice how much space they need. They DO grow, even if they are in a fishtank. I can't tell you how many people say they only grow to the size of the tank. They will keep growing until they reach their adult size of 10-13 feet. And weigh as much as 400-900 pounds! So if you have a gator and do not know where to go with him/her, the best thing to do is get in contact with large animal display centers, such as Snake and Animal Farm up in the Poconos, or Reptiland up past Milton.... These are the places to call, they can help you find out where exactly is best for your gator. I will and can only keep up to 3, until I can build a bigger building. Unfortunately, many zoos will not take gators any more because of these reasons. Too many people own them and must get rid of them. So next time you're thinking of getting a gator..., please think twice. It is a big expense!
